VW T5 Diamond Washer + End cap

We supply this camshaft gear diamond washer and end cap set for VW T5 2.5 TDI PD engines. You recieve one diamond washer with OE reference 070 109 421 A and one camshaft end cap with OE reference 070 103 407. The set fits the five-cylinder 2.5 TDI PD engine across the early and later T5 engine codes listed below.

Included in the set

• 1 × camshaft gear diamond washer. The thin slotted friction washer fits in the camshaft drive gear assembly. VW OE reference 070 109 421 A.
• 1 × camshaft end cap. Also known as a camshaft plug or bung seal. It closes the camshaft bore in the cylinder head. VW OE reference 070 103 407.

Camshaft gear and end cap repairs

This set is useful when working on the camshaft drive gear without needing a full intake manifold gasket and injector seal kit. Volkswagen's repair instructions specify a new diamond-coated washer when refitting the camshaft drive gear. The washer forms part of the friction joint securing the gear to the camshaft so dont treat it as an ordinary washer that can simply be reused. The end cap is for replacing a leaking or damaged camshaft bore plug or one removed during cylinder head work. If you are only replacing the plug and havent disturbed the camshaft drive gear then the washer doesnt need replacing for that reason alone. Both parts are supplied together for repairs involving these areas.

Check what else your repair needs before ordering. A full camshaft replacement may also require new bolts, bearings, lifters, injector seals and other gaskets. These arent included. Removing the intake manifold alone doesnt require you to remove the camshaft gear or end cap.

VW T5 2.5 TDI PD fitment

For VW Transporter T5, Caravelle, Multivan and California models fitted with the five-cylinder 2.5 TDI PD engine from approximately 2003 to 2009.
